Maine offers three ways to get paid as a family caregiver.
1. Consumer Directed Attendant Services (CDAS): is a program that enables elderly and/or disabled adults to receive care at home. This program allows the care recipient to choose and pay family members or friends to provide personal care services.

2. Home Based Care (HBC): is a non-Medicaid program that helps elderly and/or disabled adults receive care at home. Through this program, friends and certain family members can be paid for providing personal care services.

3. Maine Elderly and Adults with Disabilities Waiver: enables elderly and/or disabled adults who require nursing facility level of assistance to receive care at home. This program allows the care recipient to choose and pay family members or friends to provide personal care services. Other services range from respite care to assistive technologies.
