Montana offers two ways to get paid as a family caregiver.

 

1. Home and Community Based Services Waiver (Big Sky): is designed to help elderly and disabled adults receive care at home or in a community setting. This program pays friends and certain family members for providing personal care services. Other services range from adult day and respite care to transportation assistance. 

 

Program Requirements

    • MUST be a resident of Montana
    • MUST be 65+ OR disabled
    • MUST require nursing facility level of care
    • MUST be Medicaid eligible
    • All caregivers eligible

2. Montana Community First Choice/Personal Assistance Programs: helps elderly and disabled adults receive care at home. Through this program, friends and certain family members can be paid for providing personal care services. 

 

Program Requirements

    • MUST be a resident of Montana
    • MUST have a health condition that limits ability to perform activities of daily living 
    • MUST be Medicaid eligible
    • Spouses are NOT eligible
